It will go away.

For GPars and Gant I created lists on GoogleGroups. However I am told
that just helps Google make money from selling add targeting and that
Yahoo Groups is better.

I'm not sure what will happen when codehaus is gone. So far I haven't heard from anyone who wants to take on maintenance of groovy-eclipse going forward.

cheers,
Andy

RE: JIRA / mailing list ?

Skeptic .
The repository is already on github https://github.com/groovy/groovy-eclipse

I was asking about the JIRA and the mailing list.

Another question would be the binary releases.

Hi,

I’m actually referring to the groovy-eclipse plugin. In the recent GGTS new and noteworthy ( http://docs.spring.io/sts/nan/latest/NewAndNoteworthy.html ) it was mentioned that as Pivotal is no longer sponsoring Groovy/Grails, there are no more planned releases of the tooling related to the projects.

cheers,
Andy

Hey,

I know you were asking about the jira/mailing list, I was just pointing out that it partly relates to the project as a whole. I’d say use github issues going forward. I have downloaded the jira backlog as an XML file but i don’t think i have the time to upload it into github issues (but if someone takes on the project I’m happy to give it to them). We already left the wiki at codehaus for the wiki at github but I daresay there are some pages we’d lose because they haven’t been migrated (DSLD I’m thinking but i haven’t checked). Mailing list, I don’t know - someone feel free to create a google group, sounds like the way forward.

cheers,
Andy

Oh, I didn't know Pivotal was supporting the groovy-eclipse-pluging. I thought it was more of a community effort.

So, as of now, we should not expect a new release ?

I don’t plan on doing another release but as ever the snapshots are basically as good as a release anyway (they pass exactly the same set of tests). The only difference between a snapshot and a release is the label on the build artifact.

Re: JIRA / mailing list ?

Renu Chudamani

Where are the groovy-eclipse-compiler and groovy-eclipse-batch releases/snapshots going to be hosted when codehaus goes away? Or is the expectation that we build and deploy to our own repositories going forward? I am not taking about the code repository - but the repos I need for me to build my groovy based projects using maven.

For GPars and Gant I created lists on GoogleGroups. However I am told
that just helps Google make money from selling add targeting and that
            Yahoo Groups is better.

Re: JIRA / mailing list ?

Releases of those live in central. Snapshots were staged at codehaus for testing but could be hosted somewhere else by whoever builds the next versions.

I don’t plan on doing another release but as ever the snapshots are basically as good as a release anyway (they pass exactly the same set of tests). The only difference between a snapshot and a release is the label on the build artifact.

Oh, I didn't know Pivotal was supporting the groovy-eclipse-pluging. I thought it was more of a community effort.

So, as of now, we should not expect a new release ?

Can we just release the Groovy 2.4 compatible system now so that it is
in Maven Central and/or JCenter?
